PDX Picks July 23rd 2008


Thursday 24th: PDX Pop

Portland's premier (only?) all ages music festival kicks off this evening and runs right through the weekend with a ton of quality local acts all playing for free. Rotture, 315 SE 3rd Ave. All ages FREE

Friday 25th: Flicks on the Bricks: The Goonies.

Pioneer Courthouse Square's Flicks on the Bricks series kicks off with an outdoor screening of the Oregon classic, the Goonies. Pioneer Courthouse Square. FREE. All ages. Dusk

Friday 25th: Fleet Foxes

Seattle's finest will be playing in the Doug Fir tonight. More than likely this will be your last chance to catch the Fleet Foxes killer harmonies in an intimate venue. Get your ticket quick it may already be sold out. Doug Fir Lounge, 9pm. Over 21's. $10.

Saturday 26th: Title Wave Book Sale

Title Wave Book Outlet-the Multnomah County Library's volunteer-run book store is having a giant book sale this Saturday with many books going for under $2. Title Wave, 216 NE Knott St. 9am-5pm. FREE. All ages.

Sunday 27th:
The Hold Steady

Minneapolis stalwarts The Hold Steady are dragging blue collar bar rock into the 21st Century. It sounds a lot more clever than you might have expected. Crystal Ballroom, 1332 W Burnside St. 9pm. $22. All ages.
