Benefit Bluegrass Concert

Benefit Concert and Auction
For Our Friend Kerrie Hubbard

May 27th ~ 7pm

Sunnyside Environmental School
3421 SE Salmon Street, Portland

With Local Bluegrass from
Choctaw Ridge

Choctaw Ridge is Athena Patterson, Chick Rose, Gene Alger, and SES Student Kian Dye

On October 25th, 2007 Kerrie Hubbard was diagnosed with Diffuse Large B-cell Non-Hodgkin lymphoma. Since then she has endured 6 rounds of debilitating chemotherapy and is now, thankfully, officially in remission and cancer free. Unfortunately, she is left with large medical bills as she tries to get back on track with work.

Kerrie is a passionate artist who makes her living doing an assortment of freelance jobs so that she has time to pursue her other passion – helping people. She has been involved with charity cycling events, Habitat For Humanity, homeless outreach, and the Be A Hero project to help orphans in DR Congo, just to name a few. Kerrie has given so much of her time and her heart and now she needs our help.

The concert is free but donations are greatly appreciated!

SUPER FUN SHOW for a SUPERFUND SITE!

Portland's music community will be coming together at Holocene on June 5th to support Catawampus Films, and Nicaraguans suffering from CKD, an epidemic of kidney failure that epidemiologists are referring to as 'a veiled genocide.'

For years agribusiness has been dumping EPA banned poisons on northern Nicaragua and then exporting those products for first-world consumption. Catawampus Films is completing a documentary feature on this hidden disaster with the help of Stephen Kinzer, Alec Baldwin, Dan Koppel, and Noam Chomsky.

The crew has also started a non-profit, La Isla Foundation, to support those most affected by the epidemic.

If you have any questions about the event or our work in Nicaragua please don't hesitate to contact me.

Thank you for your time,
