PDX Picks June 4th 2008


Wednesday 4th: DIY Arts Night

The brand new Imago Dei DIY Arts group kicks off on Wednesday 4th June at 7pm in the Fellowship Hall of Evangel Baptist.
The DIY Arts group meets on the first Wednesday of every month from 7-9pm in Evangel Baptist Fellowship Hall, (NE 29th & Flanders.) Come join your fellow artists, craftspeople, and general creative brains for a night of diy project mayhem! We'll work on our own projects (nothing too loud, too messy or too large please!), have a little time to chat together, and bring a treat to share if you'd like! anyone is welcome! Thursday 5th: Holly Andres Exhibition

Well-known for her creepy family tableaux photographer Holly Andres debuts a new body of work called Sparrow Lane tonight. The series is hooked around Andres' childhood fascination with Nancy Drew and Hardy Boys mysteries. Quality Pictures, 916 NW Hoyt St

Thursday 5th:
Friends of the Afflicted Benefit

The Holocene hosts a musical benefit to support the plight of oppressed Nicaraguan farm workers. Featuring music from Point Juncture, WA, Reporter, Hutch & Kathy plus others. Holocene, 1001 SE Morrison St. 9pm. $5-$10 sliding scale. Over 21's

Opens Friday 6th:
Mister Lonely

Harmony Korine's latest off the wall effort, follows a Michael Jackson impersonator as he befriends a Marilyn Monroe impersonator on the streets of Paris. Opens Friday at the Hollywood Theatre, 4122 NE Sandy Blvd.

Saturday 7th:
Holocene Birthday Party

Celebrate the Holocene's birthday with a free party featuring music from local legends the Shaky Hands, Horsefeathers and others. Holocene, 1001 SE Morrison St. 8pm. FREE. Over 21's.
